Academic Integrity Expectations
Students may not be aware of actions that contradict academic integrity expectations, including plagiarism and self-plagiarism.
Students writing their theses should be particularly aware of self-plagiarism. Self-plagiarism includes the reuse of one’s own work as original work, such as submitting the same work in multiple courses without permission of the faculty; submitting a significant proportion of previous work, for example, a program capstone requirement as the complete thesis; and submitting previously written work, for example, a final paper for a class, as new work for the thesis.
Syracuse University’s Academic Integrity Expectations and Policies are documented on the Center for Learning and Student Success website: https://class.syr.edu/academic-integrity/policy/.
