Fall semester is over, so now it’s time to think about SUMMER! Really, it is.

You can line up an experience now that will make an impact, develop your knowledge and skills, and allow you to gain new experiences. Use every summer, even right after your first year, to engage in the issues you are most passionate about through research, internships, study abroad, or civic engagement.

Where do you start?

• The Center for Fellowship & Scholarship Advising (CFSA) has a list of resources.
• Talk to as many people as possible. Often the best opportunities come out of conversations with faculty, advisors, fellow students, SU alums, family and friends.
• Faculty mentors and department offices are excellent resources for learning about potential opportunities in your field.
• Seek the assistance of the advising and career offices in your home college at SU.

Apply to a number of programs or internships. Stay organized and be sure to ask for letters of recommendation no later than 3-4 weeks in advance of deadlines.
