Honors Funding Opportunities
The Honors Program is dedicated to supporting students in research endeavors, study abroad, and overall professional development. Generous donors and supporters provide these opportunities for students.
If you are a student seeking career advancement support, consider applying for the Academic Enhancement Award. This grant combines opportunities for funding across three categories: Study Abroad, Research, and Professional Development (conferences, internship, etc.).
Honors also provides Thesis Funding through the Crown Awards, Wise-Marcus 50-Year Friendship Awards, and the Parker Award for Women in Science. These funding grants cover research materials, travel, and sometimes summer living expenses. Eligible students include Honors students with approved Thesis projects.
Eligibility & Details
Applicants must be matriculated Syracuse University students, in good standing in the Honors Program and must be registered full-time during the semester that the award is granted. Please see our advising pages on what 'Good Standing' in Honors means.
We will also evaluate your engagement with the Honors Program in general, and priority is given to students who are active in Honors and making progress toward their Honors requirements through classes, civic engagement, and thesis work.
A student can only be awarded a SOURCE Bridge Grant, Honors Academic Enhancement Grant (only honors students are eligible) or other University Grant and cannot be awarded any of these grants at the same time. The program will also prioritize students who have not been funded by Honors or other programs before.
All Honors grants require students to confirm participation in the proposed activity. The application may require students to upload confirmation via a letter, statement, registration, or other mechanism of documentation appropriate to the type of grant.
Award Limits
Each Academic Enhancement Award has a maximum amount of $2,000.00.
Grant applications will ask students to submit a summarized cost estimate, so please keep these limits in mind when applying.
Additional Requirements
Each grant awardee is required to submit an 'Award Report' upon completion of their activity. The report asks you experiential and reflective questions about your experience and allows you to upload photos of your choice. These could be published on the Honors website as blog posts and shared with generous donors who support students. It is also inspirational for other students to read about and learn from other students' experiences.

In addition to the Award Report, students who receive funding from the Honors Program are required to present at the Honors Research Fair, Honors Community Events and/or other campus programs.
