Alex Rouhandeh’s investigative journalism on the US-Mexico border was funded by the Honors Program and the SOURCE. Rouhandeh won first place in the Places category for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Student Magazine Contest. According to a contest judge, Rouhandeh’s work merits “[A] standing ovation: It was a privilege to read this gorgeous piece of work. This should be held on a pedestal of impeccable pre-planning, research, flawless reporting, journalistic instincts and beautifully executed writing, delightfully weaving together stats and facts with experience, reporting and wit.” You can read Rouhandeh’s report in the Newhouse School’s TheNewsHouse publication:
