Congratulations to Snigdha Chatterjee (A&S ’17), who was awarded a Travel Grant by the American Society of Plant Biologists to present her work at the “Plant Biology 2016” meeting in Austin, TX, the largest annual international Plant Biology Conference in the world. She is the only undergraduate student in the nation to receive this award!

Snigdha’s research is in Honors core faculty member Dr. Ramesh Raina’s lab. She studies plant-pathogen interaction, and how plants defend themselves upon attack through chromatin modification. The title of her Capstone project is “JMJ7, an Arabidopsis Histone Demethylase Negatively Regulates Cell Death, Drought, and Defense Against Pseudomonas syringae”
