Enhancing Inclusion in Honors Courses

Laurel Willingham-McLain led Honors faculty in a constructive workshop focused on inclusion.

Laurel Willingham-McLain, Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, moderated a professional development workshop for Honors faculty in August. The workshop was based on the premise that the most innovative and impactful teachers constantly strive to improve their own teaching skills and to better connect with their students. The workshop focused on providing faculty with practical strategies which they can use to increase representation of diverse perspectives and groups in course content and to increase inclusion of all students in classroom learning experiences. During the workshop, faculty developed and shared content teaching approaches that can be implemented without redesigning the entire course.
