Amani Woodard
I chose to study abroad in the Syracuse London program. There are not enough words to describe this life changing experience. I was immersed in an unfamiliar city with new cultures, new rules and ideas. My classes challenged me while also immersing me into the city of London. The flexible schedule allowed me to travel frequently and explore even more new cultures. If it wasn’t for the help of Honors this experience would not have been possible. The thing I enjoyed most was the challenges I faced because they have built me up into a confident, capable woman that feels more able to take on the challenges of life.
I wasn’t expecting my classes to really be so immersive. In most of my classes we go at least twice into London and explore variations of the objectives in the classes I took. I absolutely loved the experience because that is not something my courses in SU would have given me.
I am beyond excited to get ready to really dive deep into my thesis. I have so many experiences with people that I believe I can incorporate into my thesis as well as future academic work. I think this experience has absolutely contributed to my academic and professional goals. I believe most of all I have developed the trust in myself that I can do hard things and stay calm and make it through.
I would not have been able to enjoy and see as much as I have if it was not for the grant received from Honors. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to travel and see not only London, but other countries as well.
