Frederick Douglass–Daniel O’Connell Global Internship: A Fully Funded Study Abroad Opportunity
The Renée Crown University Honors Program is excited to share an incredible opportunity for students interested in global leadership, social justice, and intercultural learning.
The Frederick Douglass–Daniel O’Connell Global Internship offers a fully funded 8-week study and internship experience in Dublin, Ireland. This program, co-sponsored by CIEE, the Government of Ireland, the African American Irish Diaspora Network, and the John & Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation, covers all expenses, including tuition, housing, airfare, and a living stipend.
Founded in 2016 by the Council for International Educational Exchange (CIEE), this internship celebrates the friendship and shared commitment to justice between Douglass and O’Connell. During the summer, 10 outstanding student leaders will live and intern in Dublin, engaging in meaningful work while exploring how advocacy, leadership, and communication can create social change.
Students must:
- Be a first, second, or third-year undergraduate student
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Be Pell Grant–eligible or demonstrate financial need
The application deadline is January 9, 2026.
Weekly information sessions are hosted by CIEE, with the next one on Friday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. (EST). We encourage Honors students to explore this global opportunity. For more information and to apply, visit CIEE’s official program page or contact your study abroad advisor.
