The Mary Ann Shaw Center for Public and Community Service is now accepting applications for the Robert B. Menschel Public Service Award, supporting Syracuse University undergraduates completing nonprofit internships this summer.

This award was established to honor Robert B. Menschel’s commitment to the nonprofit sector and provides $2,000 in funding to selected students.

Applicants must:

  • Be a matriculated undergraduate student at Syracuse University in good standing
  • Have secured a Summer 2026 internship with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nongovernmental organization
  • Submit a complete application by the deadline

Students must submit:

  • Completed application form
  • Short essay describing their position and responsibilities
  • Resume
  • The organization’s most recent IRS Form 990

Key Dates & Details

  • Application Deadline: Monday, May 11
  • Notification: Recipients will be notified via email in May
  • Funding Distribution: Award funds are deposited directly into student bursar accounts
  • Post-Internship Requirement: A short reflection paper is required following the internship experience
