Professor Brett Jakubiak - College of Arts & Sciences

Brett Jakubiak, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Syracuse University.

His research and teaching focus on interpersonal relationships and well-being. Brett’s research examines interpersonal behaviors that regulate stress, support autonomous goal pursuit, and enhance relationship quality across the lifespan.

One key line of work investigates the consequences of affectionate touch, verbal affection, and other affectionate acts, as well as individual differences and situational factors that shape their outcomes. His research informs both theory and scalable interventions that help foster satisfying relationships and promote well-being.

Brett teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in social psychology, with an emphasis on close attachment relationships. He received the Meredith Teaching Recognition Award for Early Career Performance (2021).
