The 2024 Kenya Cultural Immersion Experience was more than just a trip, it was a window into an entirely different walk of life. In just 10 days, I learned from business owners, mothers, children, and everyone else I met along the way. I discovered the humanitarian side of business– one that emphasizes being a human first and a manager second. In Kenya, ethical and sustainable business practices are the norm, not a rare jewel. Seeing these themes unfold inspired me and shaped my perspective on corporate retail. I was not expecting to fall in love with and connect with so many different people and their stories. Everyone that I met was so passionate, kind, and driven to make a positive difference in the world. No matter if they were a business owner, a student, or a tour guide, they all had such zest for life and love for human connection. I was the Retail Industry, Supply Chain, and International Business Coordinator of the trip, and this May I will be traveling back as the Student Director of the 2025 Kenya Cultural Immersion Experience.
