HNR 210 Professor Syeisha Byrd Featured in Central NY News
Honors faculty member Professor Byrd has recently been appointed as the commissioner of Syracuse’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs! Professor Byrd has an extensive history of outreach in the area, from working as the program and site director of the Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse, to being a member of Mayor Walsh’s Quality of Life Commission.
Professor Byrd teaches the Honors Program class, Crocheting for a Cause, a hands-on class that introduces students to basic crocheting skills and strategies, as they work to create items to donate to others in community. In previous classes, crocheted items have been donated to mothers and their newborn babies, people who are in hospitals, refugees and immigrants living in Central New York, and campus and community food pantries.
