This summer, I went to Florence, Italy, for six weeks. While there, I had an internship with the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Florence. My internship focused on Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for marine robotics. I loved the work that I was given, and I thought the topic was really interesting. Besides working, I was also able to enjoy the city and travel to see a lot of other places in Italy.
Something that surprised me about my experience in Italy that I didn’t know prior is that a lot of the restaurants and cafes close really early for lunch and only reopen late for dinner.
Going forward, I plan on continuing to improve my CAD skills, as I really enjoyed the work that I did for my internship. I also plan on doing research to see if that is something I would enjoy doing in my career.
