Civic Around the World
Honors student Othello Herbert (UC, ’24) traveled to Nepal with the organization, buildOn to help build a school.
buildOn is a non-profit organization that has taken on the noble task of constructing schools in developing countries worldwide. But their mission extends far beyond brick and mortar. At the heart of buildOn’s work is their Constructive Leadership™ method, which teaches students to lead by first learning to serve.
This approach ignites a passion for service, inspiring solidarity and unlocking vital leadership qualities such as courage, resilience, and empathy. Whether working with U.S. high school students, community members in developing countries, or corporate partners, buildOn applies this service-first methodology to create leaders who can drive systemic change and create a positive impact on the world.
Did you know that Honors celebrates student civic engagement projects on the Civic blog? This is a great way to educate others about the work you do and the fabulous organizations with which you work.
