Honors Celebrates Together!
On Sunday, August 29th, nearly 300 Honors faculty, staff and new students gathered to celebrate the arrival of the Class of ’25 to campus. After the programming, students enjoyed a warm take-out meal to nourish their energies after an exhilarating Opening Weekend.
Honors students Gretchen Coleman ’22, Veronica Bucci, ’22 and Dominic Chiappone ’24 shared words of experience and inspiration about their research, campus engagement, and academic journeys. Dominic (History, Maxwell School, and Broadcast and Digital Journalism, Newhouse School, encouraged incoming students to think big. “Amidst these trying times filled with uncertainty and division, anger and distrust, bitterness and frustration, this university needs you to become the next mass wave of advocates, leaders, and community builders. After all, as the saying goes: ‘if not now, when, and if not you, who?’”
Veronica Bucci (Psychology, Forensic Science, and Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences), shared the rewards of her campus life. “Being a part of this community at Syracuse University has provided me with a plethora of incredible experiences, opportunities previously unavailable to me, and the ability to connect with a variety of students and faculty.”
Gretchen (Political Philosophy and Political Science, Maxwell) encouraged an adventurous spirit, sharing, “My biggest piece of advice for you is to plan early to keep your options open!”
We all shared the warmth and optimism of new beginnings, celebrated together.
