The South Campus Food Pantry is looking for volunteers for the summer and upcoming fall semester! Volunteers will come in on Wednesdays from 12:30 pm to 3:15 pm and cover the following responsibilities:

  • Open/Close
    • Open the pantry facility at 1pm or close at 3pm
    • Display the “OPEN” sign outside the building, or “CLOSED”
  • Inventory Management:
    • Stock the food pantry shelves with fresh produce and pantry staples between 12:30pm and 1pm
    • Ensure an adequate supply of items at all times
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Greet pantry customers with a friendly and helpful demeanor
    • Welcome new customers, provide an orientation to the pantry, and explain guidelines and rules
  • Documentation:
    • Students need to show the pantry volunteer a valid SU ID to receive their groceries
    • On a sheet of paper, the volunteer will mark each pantry user
  • Organization:
    • Maintain a clean and neat pantry environment throughout operational hours
  • Restocking:
    • Restock pantry items as needed to ensure availability for customers
  • Customer Assistance:
    • Offer assistance to customers and address any questions or concerns they may have
    • Inquire if customers require anything else to fulfill their needs
  • Closing
    • Organize and store all produce in designated storage areas, ensuring proper rotation
    • Discard any items that do not meet quality standards
    • Wash any dishes, utensils or equipment that were used
    • Clean pantry counters
