Last Saturday, Honors Students embarked on a familiarization walk down from the Hall of Languages on campus to a site of the Erie Canal. Students learn about local history, sociology and geography in Professor John Western’s Honors course: American Diversity and Unity.  In the course, students examine particular American spaces, and how our past and present culture(s) are to be read in the landscape of those places. Students also analyze regional characteristics, which are particularly meaningful in any understanding of a broad American culture.
