John McGowan (VPR ’14) created a one-artist anthology comic, consisting of the first chapter of a serialized story, The Turkey Avenger, a series of autobiographical comic strips, and a collection of developmental material from the two projects for his Capstone, “Millennial Rust.” His advice is sharp and to the point, just like his drawings.
- Start your finished drawings in at least Fall of senior year.
- Find more than one advisor you trust.
- Figure out how to incorporate it into your coursework.
- Ask for help from everyone.
- Take breaks.
