Shyneice C. Porter (AS/PC ’14) echoes the advice you are hopefully hearing from all corners concerning your Capstone topic choice:

The best advice that I could give for this extensive project is to choose a topic about which you are truly passionate and that encompasses aspects of your everyday life. This will be a long, stressful journey, but it is surely worth it in the end! Embrace the workload and take comfort in the knowledge that, when it is over, you’ll be a much more knowledgeable, well-rounded person who now has finely tuned time management skills! And remember to sincerely thank everyone who supports you along the way. Best of luck with whatever path you choose to follow!

Shyneice’s Capstone, titled “Exploring Student Perceptions of Resident Advisors” explored students’ misconceptions about the resident advisor (RA) role and examined the effects of those misconceptions on attitudes toward RAs. Her advisor was Prof. Leonard Newman.
