Adult Education Classroom Support Opportunity

Westside Learning Center group photoVolunteer to assist with instruction, lesson planning,  and general teacher needs in this Adult Education setting at the Westside Learning Center. You will be working amongst  the center’s eight teachers and two-hundred students who are refugees and recent immigrants from Cuba, Iraq, Congo and other countries.

The students’ English proficiency levels range from no English at all, on up to those who test out of our program, and are no longer considered English-limited.

Classes are everyday from 9:00 AM to 12:00, and in the afternoon from 1:00 to 3:30. There are also evening programs Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30.

Volunteers would have lots of direct interaction with the students. The time frames could be anywhere from one month to several months, and if you volunteer a minimum of 14 hours in one semester, you can petition to have your global experience requirement fulfilled.

This is a great opportunity! Contact Bruce Cudworth if you have questions.
