Tending the Story Garden
Lily Sarkisian (AS 17) spent some of her summer helping to tend the Story Garden exhibit at the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier. Lily helped the Center with basic garden work, such as weeding, planting, and watering. She also helped paint, make exhibits, and worked on editing booklets and brochures for The Story Garden.
Lily said, “I loved volunteering at The Story Garden. It was both educational, as I got to learn a lot about gardening, and fun, because of all the wonderful children I got to meet. The garden itself is absolutely beautiful and it really gave me an appreciation for the people that work and volunteer there. Although this is my first submission to Honors, I hope all of my subsequent volunteering will be as rewarding as my time at The Story Garden.” If she keeps finding such interesting and beautiful organizations to work with, we’re sure Lily will enjoy the rewards she’s hoping for.
