Service to All
Mignon Farnet (MG ’16) helped plan and lead events at the Alibrandi Catholic Center. She was involved in the planning and participated in a day-long retreat for Confirmation students in the Diocese of Syracuse. With a small committee, she helped plan an intercollegiate retreat for college students in the greater Syracuse region, and she co- planned a 24 hour trip to Washington D.C. for the Pro-Life Rally. Mignon also shared testimonies at mass and Sandwich Ministry, at which she also helped make sandwiches for a local food pantry. These activities served the University Catholic Community, the student body of Syracuse, and the greater Syracuse community. Experiences like these have helped Mignon develop herself as a leader and server in the community: “I have loved giving back to the community in this capacity. I feel as if I have come to gain a better understanding of what civic engagement truly means; I define it as giving back people who live in your community. I love giving back to the community in this capacity and my understanding of civic engagement has definitely evolved as I continue to serve. These events showed me the face of Christ in everyone that I have met and served. Because I have had such a positive experience here, I plan on continuing this service!”
