Volunteer at the New York State Fair!

Syracuse University is partnering with an NSF project at the New York State Fair to inspire and educate the public about batteries, clean energy, and the exciting work here in Upstate New York! SUVO is looking for students who are energetic, comfortable talking with people, and excited to communicate the project with others in a fun, accessible way. All volunteers will be fully trained, and no prior knowledge of batteries is needed. As a booth volunteer, you will be:

  • Welcoming and engaging fairgoers
  • Leading simple, hands-on activities for kids
  • Running a fun and easy game called Battery Feud
  • Encouraging visitors to complete a short survey using an iPad
  • Distributing information about the Engine, battery technology, and related careers
  • Handing out giveaways and Engine swag to booth visitors

Volunteers can sign up for a Morning Shift (9:30 am – 3:00 pm) or an Afternoon Shift (2:30 pm – 9:00 pm) any day from August 20th to September 1st. All volunteers will receive reimbursement for travel, fair entry, and parking, meals and water during their shift, a volunteer t-shirt, and a special swag bag.

Use this link to sign up for a specific day and shift, and join SUVO on ‘Cuse Activities to learn more about this and upcoming opportunities!
