Service in Peru

Children at health clinic in PeruAndrea Gale Pennington (AS ‘16) traveled out to a community in Pamplona Alta, Peru to assist doctors in providing medicine, education, and development to those who cannot afford or do not have access to it. Her group served over 2800 patients in total over their 5 day trip and built a cement staircase in a community to make it easier for those in the community to travel to get water and to go to school.

Andrea says, “I can honestly say that I have never worked harder on a project than on the development staircase. Also just seeing the expression on these patients’ faces after we treated them, and seeing the poverty that they live in, it was a seriously eye-opening experience into the extreme reality that these people face. I’m very proud of the service that we all did, and the progress that we have made in these communities.”
