\"Amanda<\/a><\/p>\n

The definition of memory is \u201cthe power or process of reproducing or recalling what has been learned and retained especially through associative mechanisms.\u201d For her research, Amanda used the memory of the site of the Ghetto Nuovo to challenge the notion of memory as an individual\u2019s recollection of a place, but rather the memory of the site to remember its past. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Amanda used her Crown funding to travel to Venice to study historical Jewish ghettos, its historical use, construction methods, alterations over time, and urban conditions to re-present preservation as both a physical and cultural intervention. This architecture capstone used casting, image transferring, framing, and the insertion of elements to explore the use of historic buildings as containers for architectural intervention.<\/span><\/p>\n
