{"id":16054,"date":"2018-07-06T16:00:46","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T16:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/honors.syr.edu\/capstone\/?p=16054"},"modified":"2025-11-11T19:56:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T19:56:16","slug":"a-feeling-of-accomplishment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/honors.syr.edu\/thesis\/2018\/07\/06\/a-feeling-of-accomplishment\/","title":{"rendered":"A Feeling of Accomplishment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Margaret McCoy\u2019s research project,<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Control of Meiotic Prophase One Progression in the Perinatal Mouse Ovary,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> focused on developing an in house method for analyzing meiotic prophase one. Margaret created a timeline of meiotic prophase one mice ages 17.5dpc to PND 4, and analyzed the effect estrogen deficiency and MEK inhibition have on meitoic prophase one progression. \u00a0One of the major challenges of her project was finding enough mice of the correct age to work with. Her capstone funding allowed her to obtain and care for the mice she needed to complete this research. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Margaret, the best part of doing a Capstone was coming to truly understand a master a subject to her fullest ability. This came second only to the feeling of accomplishment when the project is complete!
