Thesis Title:

Exploration of How Social Media Positively and Negatively Affects the Development of Teens

Lindsay Kantor

My name is Lindsay Kantor, and I am a senior at Syracuse University. For my honors thesis project, I was interested in learning more about cyberbullying and how it may affect one's self-esteem. My overall research topic was the Exploration of How Social Media Positively and Negatively Affects the Development of Teens. I have always had a passion for social media, and after studying Information Management and Technology at Syracuse University, I knew I wanted to focus on this topic for my honors thesis project. I personally do not tolerate any form of bullying whether it be cyber or in person, and feel that there needs to be more attention directed to cyber bullying amongst high school aged students. ||I feel that my findings are valuable to the greater good for many reasons. The first one being, it allows people to see that cyberbullying does exist on social media and how it affects so many high school aged students. It also draws attention to a topic that might be hard to discuss. Furthermore, it allows people to see both the negative and positive effects of using social media. Finally, this topic is also important in order to investigate what can be done to help those negatively affect by social media who in turn have lower self-esteem. ||||
