This project explores my 10-week summer internship in insurance underwriting at Axis Capital in New York City. It discusses the critical information that I acquired throughout my experience, including types of insurance, the logistics of the insurance tower, and underwriting methods. It also analyzes a real-world example, which was my summer-long capstone project. The example brings one through the lifetime of an insurance policy and provides authentic solutions to the questions that arise. The project also gives a concrete example of how my mathematics major connects to the role of an actuary in the insurance industry. This thesis project adequately captures my hard work throughout my experiential internship.
