Thesis Title:

The Emergence and Perpetuation of Alienation in Capitalist Contexts

This work explores human relationships with environment and how alienation came to be one of the characteristics of the modern global capitalist system. I look at consumption patterns and global commodity chains to show how alienation perpetuates harmful practices against humans and the environment. At the end as an alternative, I explore indigenous philosophy regarding reciprocity and gratitude, and try to show a relationship with land that benefits humans as well as their counterparts in "nature".
