Volunteer at the Interfaith Community Collective
Looking for a meaningful way to give back to the Syracuse community? The Interfaith Community Collective, based at University United Methodist Church (324 University Avenue), is dedicated to promoting social justice and building a welcoming, inclusive environment for all Central New York (CNY) residents. Their mission is simple but powerful: ensure our neighbors are warm, fed, safe, and thriving, and they need your help to do it.
The Collective runs several life-sustaining programs throughout the week, and they’re always looking for volunteers, whether for a one-time commitment or a recurring role. Honors students have a great opportunity to make a tangible difference by joining in any of the following efforts:
Emergency Food Distribution
Fridays: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Each week, city residents can access free food to support their households. Volunteers help with setup, distribution, and offering a friendly face to those in need.
The Clothing Room
Thursdays: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM & Sundays: 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Gently used clothing is offered for free to men, women, and children. Students are especially encouraged to help sort and organize donations on Tuesdays.
To-Go Community Breakfasts
Sundays: 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Volunteers assist in preparing and handing out nutritious bagged breakfasts, hot coffee, water, and hot cereal kits.
Whether you’re looking to meet civic engagement hours, build community connections, or simply help others, volunteering with the Interfaith Community Collective is a direct and impactful way to get involved.
