Join Honors Architecture Thesis Study
Honors Architecture student Dara Jin is seeking volunteers to participate in her Honors thesis project, “Woven Tensions.” Asian American students and Asian international students are vital to the focus of the project, but students all backgrounds are highly encouraged and welcomed. This is open to all majors and academic years.
In her project, Dara is examining a perceived disconnect between international students and American students. The goal is to engage in collaborative design between two groups of people who typically do not interact in intimate spaces, and bring people together while learning and working on a shared activity in weaving (no weaving experience is required!) Volunteers should be willing to spend two to three 45-minute to 1-hour sessions that will take place during the weekends of the spring semester. (Sessions will be flexible on times and availability, so commitment can be flexible if you cannot make it to all the sessions) The location is not set in stone but will most likely be Slocum Hall. The process will also be filmed and documented. There will be a short survey before and after the sessions. Refreshments and snacks will be provided! Participants will be invited to the final presentation of the thesis to see how their contributions made an impact. Interested participants can contact Dara Jin at djin04@syr.edu
