Nourish the Local Community
Food Recovery Network is a prominent, joint organization between SU and ESF, and all students are welcome to volunteer. The purpose of FRN is to recover leftover food from the Syracuse University Dining Halls and deliver it to shelters/agencies/organizations in the City of Syracuse. FRN relies on student volunteers to complete these recoveries. Recoveries take place in the evening (at 8 or 9 pm when the dining halls close). Volunteers drive to the dining halls and package the leftover food, drive it to the receiving agency, and then return to the dining hall with the empty food trays. Each recovery takes 1-2 hours round trip. No car is necessary, but drivers are welcome.
