Campus Connect–the RSO arm of SU’s Lutheran Chaplaincy, though not all members are Lutheran or even religious–has for many years been tutoring students within the Syracuse City School District on Saturday mornings. The program is called Success Saturdays. Many of the students are New American students who come from the city’s Karen refugee population and the Congolese community, among others; thus, the program also provides an opportunity for meaningful cross-cultural engagement.
Success Saturdays currently take place on zoom from 10-12 every week, and due to our continued engagement with administration and school counselors at schools across the city, we find more students seeking tutoring all the time. Hence, we’re also looking to expand our tutoring network.
