Days of Service, The Slice Series

The Catholic Center is hosting a service event in October called The Slice Series which consists of an overnight retreat focused on Catholic Social Teaching and a day of service the following weekend.

The overnight retreat will run from Oct. 9th-10th, Friday at 5:30 PM to Saturday at 10:30 AM. The retreat will touch upon aspects of Catholic Social Teaching such as homelessness, immigration, and Catholic Social Teaching itself. Participants in the day of service are not required to go to the retreat, but it does help one understand why we are doing service projects or why we have social teaching in the first place.

The weekend of service is the following Saturday on Oct 17th from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The group will work with the Brady Faith Center in Syracuse. The Brady Faith Center has been a refuge for the Syracuse Community for decades.

If can’t attend either event but still want to support the project and earn civic engagement hours, the group needs help setting up the Catholic Center for the overnight retreat. Set up will be from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM on Friday, Oct 9th. Volunteers are also greatly needed Saturday, Oct. 10th from Noon – 1:30.
