You have to clean up a lot of poop…
…if you want to become a veterinarian. Just ask pre-vet student, Nicole Howell (AS ’16). Nicole understands how important it is to gain experience with a wide variety of animal species. That’s one reason she enjoys volunteering at Kindred Kingdoms Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Nicole has cleaned the flight cages, wrapped bird perches, washed dishes, prepared bear food. Oh my!
Kindred Kingdoms is dedicated to the care and release of injured birds of prey and black bears in Central and Northern New York. The center provides the best medical treatment with the least amount of stress possible for injured and orphaned wildlife. The ultimate goal is to care for wildlife and get them healthy and strong enough to be returned to the wild. In 2012 Kindred Kingdoms rehabilitated and released 5 bald eagles and 19 black bears.
