Volunteering with SUA

As a member of Syracuse University Ambulance, Ilana Siegal (AS, ’17) volunteered for many shifts as the driver. This means that it was her responsibility to get the crew on scene in a safe and timely manner. On scene, she assisted the crew chief with everything from taking vital signs to administering oxygen.

This experience contributed to her understanding of civic engagement because it helped her understand her role and the impact she can have on the community through her volunteer work. She saw how important SUA’s work as an EMS agency is, and how it is their job to keep students and faculty safe.
