“You are not Invisible”

Margo Malone (AS, ’16) volunteered with In My Father’s Kitchen to help with their Winter Give Away. IMFK is an amazing organization that focuses on making sure the homeless in Syracuse do not feel invisible. It provides food and basic necessitates to homeless individuals where they live on the streets, on a consistent and compassionate basis, until the homeless individual is comfortable accepting help and working with community agencies to secure housing

Margo and other volunteers met in the morning before the event to help organize the tables of clothing and house hold goods. When the doors opened to the public, theyhelped facilitate the event by guiding the shoppers through the room and replenishing the tables with items.

This was a very unique opportunity. It was humbling for Margo to see how excited the clients were to receive items that she often takes for granted. “It was great to immediately see the young teenage girls gain self confidence when they tried on a clothing item and looked beautiful.”
