Civic Engagement with the Honors Advisory Board
Civic Engagement with the Honors Advisory Board
Ilona Toth (Mgmt, ’18) has served as president of the Honors Advisory Board for the last 2 1/2 years. As the president of the Honors Advisory Board, Ilona oversaw all actions of the Board, including the Crown Café with Recess Coffee and volunteer outings to organizations in the community. Aside from that they also recruited new members and established the Honors Peer Mentor Program.
Working on the Honors Advisory Board has provided Ilona with the opportunity to get involved in numerous parts of the Syracuse Community. Whether through meeting new people at events on and off campus or helping members of the off-campus community, she has become civically involved in many aspects of society.
“My experiences with the board have made me realize that civic engagement doesn’t have to mean volunteering with an non-university organization, it could mean helping your fellow students make a new friend or get closer to their community as well. Over this semester I have seen the HAB grow both in size and excitement,” she reflected.
The HAB is currently seeking new Peer Mentors! Apply here before February 25!
