I Can Get Hours for That?!?
I Can Get Hours for That?!?
There are many ways to be civically engaged and Honors wants to promote all of them. Many people think of volunteering at a food pantry when they hear civic engagement. Volunteering is a great form of civic engagement, but it’s far from the only one.
Training to be an active, responsible community member is another important way to engage, and that’s why you can submit some of the time you spend in training programs for civic engagement hours. This fall students who attend a Be Orange program can print out the certificate below, fill in their name and the date of the program, get the signature of the program presenter, and then use it as the supervisor signature when submitting 2 hours of civic engagement.
Our theory is that if you spend time learning to be an empowered bystander, our community will be stronger and healthier, you will be stronger and healthier, and everyone’s access to participate will increase. If that isn’t community engagement, then I don’t know what is!
