Spend Time with History
Want to hang out in a very cool place with some very cool people and do some mostly fun stuff – and get community service credit for it? Then THE MATILDA JOSLYN GAGE CENTER FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE DIALOGUE is for you!
We are a mostly volunteer organization that invites folks to come in and create whatever they want related to our mission. Reading Oz books to kids; doing a dramatic production, putting together an event around trafficking; working with high school girls in our Girl Ambassadors for Human Rights program; creating an exhibit – the sky and your passionate interest are the limit! It’s like a do-it-yourself museum where folks break all the rules (even write on the walls!) and visitors create their own experience.
Truth in history: there are some not so fun things to do, too, like
- Restocking the gift shop – create displays and suggest things to order for it while you’re restocking
- Filing – you can learn the history of the Gage Center while you’re doing it
- Data entry – data transcribe historical information that no one has seen for 100 years, would that be fun? You could even do it at home!
There’s a lot more but this is a start. Contact me if you’re interested:
