The Honors Student Association is a vibrant community of learners dedicated to fostering academic, personal, and social growth while serving each other, the Syracuse University community and the greater Syracuse area. HSA is a recognized student organization under the Office of Student Life, and is open to any undergraduate student in Syracuse University or SUNY ESF. In the past four years, HSA has focused on four primary spheres of activity: social, academic, service, and cultural. Members are always welcome to participate in the committees and planning groups within HSA: social, service, academic, website, public relations, and fundraising. Joining HSA is a great way to meet and get to know other Honors students.
Examples of recent events sponsored by HSA include:
- A formal dance that raised funds for the Children's Hospital
at Upstate Medical Center
- A faculty roundtable with Professors Radke and Clemence, and the DaVinci class
- Apple picking at Beak and Skiff Farms
- Going out to dinner and then to Syracuse Stage's production of King Lear
- Ice cream and movie nights
- Attending the Central New York Ballet's production of Tchaikovsky's Cinderella at the Civic Center, with the Syracuse Symphony
- Chillaxin' -- a variety of fun activities providing the opportunity to chill and relax before finals
- Participating with the HSA team at the Relay for Life in the Carrier Dome
General membership meetings are usually held Friday afternoons. Contact Steve Wright shwright@syr.edu for a list of current HSA student leaders and information about upcoming events. Participating in HSA will help you get the most out of your Honors experience.
