A Syracuse University education provides the foundation for excellent students to compete successfully for prestigious graduate fellowships. Many such fellowships are available in specific fields of study and from graduate programs, including those at Syracuse. Also, many independent foundations fund graduate studies in a broad array of disciplines in the United States or abroad. These fellowships include the most prestigious academic honors available to students at U.S. universities and colleges. More important, however, than the prestige they offer are the opportunities they provide to study in places and contexts, and with a degree of freedom from financial or career considerations, that might otherwise be unavailable.

Syracuse University offers an array of services to help students pursue these opportunities. The services include dedicated faculty advisers with expert knowledge of particular award competitions, on-campus review committees to assess and help strengthen student applications, practice interviews for fellowship candidates, and logistical support coordinated through the office of the Renée Crown University Honors Program. As part of this effort, the following pages provide initial descriptions of the different fellowships and information on how to pursue them.

A complete hard copy of this information can be found in the Honors Student Handbook.
