Honors students can turn to a number of sources of financial support for their Capstone work.

  • Students may apply for a Crown Award or Wise-Marcus 50-Year Friendship Award to support Capstone Project work. Approximately twenty projects will be funded annually up to a maximum of $5,000 per project and can include:
    • reimbursement for research materials, supplies and expenses
    • research travel reimbursement
    • a combination of these items
    • other necessary and reasonable expenses
    • in unusual cases, students may be awarded summer wages to work on the project.
Eligible items for reimbursement may be those projected in the future or those already incurred. Eligible students include Honors juniors and seniors currently working on Capstone Projects. Occasionally, sophomores who are planning Capstone Projects will also be considered. A single application applies to both the Crown and Wise-Marcus.

  • Eligible students must have an Advisor and an approved project.

  • Any Capstone student may obtain up to $200 from Honors to defray appropriate project costs. She/he must submit a brief written description of how much money is needed and for what, to the Deputy Director. Requests may be emailed to Eric Holzwarth. Once the proposal is approved, the student submits receipts for expenditures and is then reimbursed. The process takes a few weeks to complete.

  • Students should discuss financial needs with the Capstone Advisor. The Advisor will frequently know of funding sources unique to the discipline.

  • Other sources of money include one's Dean's Office (Arts and Sciences students should see Associate Dean Kandice Salomone) and major department.
