Honors faculty are expected to grade Honors students by comparing their performance with the work of non-Honors students in similar classes. An Honors student should receive the same grade for his or her work in an Honors course as would be awarded for the same quality of work in a non-honors course. Honors students should expect not to be "graded harder" in their Honors courses.

That someone is an Honors student does not mean he or she deserves an "A" or "B" in an Honors course. The Honors Program does not provide academic protection to students who might want to use their Honors status to boost their grade point averages without applying themselves seriously. Honors faculty should evaluate the course performance of Honors students in the same way as that of any other undergraduate.
