Opportunities at Hughes
Hughes Afterschool is a semester
long tutoring program that brings together SU and
Hughes students in a relationship that provides instruction
and support for the student's improvement in identified areas
of literacy. The program focuses on shared reading between
the Hughes and Honors students, while allowing them the freedom
to refect in drawings or writing.
Honors students are expected to spend one hour a week working one-to-one
with fourth graders. The program runs between 3:45 and 4:45
on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
